Info Service on WTO and Trade Issues (Sept21/22) Dear colleagues, It is our pleasure to invite you to join the upcoming webinar on 30 September: “A Dialogue: Trends and strategies in the use of competition law to promote innovation of and affordable access to health technologies.” Organized by the Government of Namibia, the Namibian Competition Commission (NaCC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the webinar will discuss recent trends and developments in the field of competition law and policy. It is hoped that the exchange of national experiences and insights among competition authorities and experts from around the world will contribute to a better understanding of the role that competition law and policy can play in increasing access to health technologies. This is particularly pertinent in view of current concerns over inequities in access to health technologies for COVID-19. The webinar will cover key issues in the forthcoming UNDP publication, Using competition law to promote access to health technologies: Supplement to the guidebook for low- and middle-income countries. As a supplement to the Guidebook published in 2014, the forthcoming UNDP publication provides recent examples of how competition law and policy have been effectively used in different contexts to improve access to health technologies.
