A PRICING GUIDE FOR THE PURCHASE OF ARVs FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES (July 2006, Revised)

MSF has come up recently with their ninth edition of “Untangling the web of price reductions: a pricing guide for the purchase of ARVs for developing countries”. They started coming up with this booklet as a response to the lack of transparent and reliable information about prices of pharmaceutical products on the international market – a factor which significantly hampers access to essential medicines in developing countries.

I have found this document to be extremely useful, as it provides information on prices and suppliers that will help purchasers make informed decisions when buying antiretrovirals (ARVs). It also provides information about which medicines are patented and not patented and when the patent expires in the US and is likely to expire in developing countries.

The document also provides information about which patent applications (on ARVs) are currently being challenged before the Indian patent offices.

The MSF document in pdf format (in English only) can be obtained at http://www.accessmed-msf.org/prod/publications.asp?scntid=20920061620266&contenttype=PARA&

If you have problems accessing the documents, do send us an email and we will send you the full report.

Best Wishes
