This
book is a summary of the collective and collaborative thinking based on
the rich experience of leading activists, thinkers and writers on Third
World affairs who participated in an international conference held in
Penang, Malaysia, in November 1984. This historic conference which focused
on the crisis facing Third World countries, led to the formation of the
Third World Network.
This
book discusses issues affecting the Third World such as widespread famine,
economic dependence on the West, cultural alienation, rural poverty and
inappropriate development. Action proposals are given for tackling these
problems.
